World of Warcraft allow Vivendi earning 6.6%

The French group Vivendi Entertainment & Communication earned a net profit of 711 million euros in the second quarter of the year , representing an increase of 6.6% over the same period of 2008, parent of the video game company Activision Blizzard , owner of the popular 'Guitar Hero' and 'World of Warcraft'.

Furthermore, the turnover of the company gala, which owns Universal Music, mobile phone operator SFR and pay television network Canal +, experienced an increase of 11% to 6.648 million euros.

Specifically, the turnover of the multinational was driven by sales of its video game unit Activision Blizzard , the largest global sector, which increased more than tripled its turnover .

Activision Blizzard has yet to launch powerful titles like 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' and skateboard game Tony Hawk: Ride ' . Up to half of the year, two of the best-selling platform titles in the U.S. and Europe were of the company, ' Guitar Hero World Tour 'and' Call of Duty: World at War ' .

In the rest of the group, revenue increased SFR and Maroc Telecom 4.2% 3.9% more turnover. In contrast, the turnover of Canal + was stable, while Universal Group sales were down 2.8%.

Thus, in the first six months of Vivendi net profit of 1,188 million euros, 2.8% less than a year ago, although the group's turnover increased by 17% to 13.178 million euros .

In this sense, the company's CEO, Jean-Bernard Lévy, expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved by the group and confirmed the predictions of the multinational for the full year in the "current conditions".
